Similarly, the School Cooperative Program also deserves mention. It encourages students to join in the development of economic, social and cultural activities in benefit to the community. It is achieved through an educational proposal that encourages coopera- tive practices. In 2019 alone, we supported 151 school cooperatives in 75 municipalities, impacting 8,000 students.

The adoption of sustainable governance as the foundation of Sicredi’s business strategy relies on the operational efficiency of the institution’s management, fostering operational agility and as little social and environmental impact as possible. As such, all the credit unions strive to reduce the use of natural resources, while improving the environment and quality of life.
To guarantee the required efficiency of its management, Sicredi implemented an eco-efficiency management model, structured on the analysis of automated model data that gauges the impact of attitudes throughout the System.
Some of the high points of this process include actions at CAS, making the he- adquarters, in Porto Alegre/RS, an international benchmark in sustainable and eco- -efficient practices, serving as a model for the entire System. Since then, Sicredi has attained excellence on several fronts, among them: energy efficiency, water efficiency, waste management, incentives for alternative transport and mobility, use of biode- gradable cleaning products, and the quality of the internal and external environment, among others. We have applied innovative solutions, like the adoption of renewable energy sources, harvesting rainwater and reuse, implementation of reverse logistics for electronic equipment, lift-sharing incentive campaigns, installation of bicycle parking, changes to the layout to foster savings on air-conditioning, and landscaping, among others.
Thanks to these practices, in 2016, CAS earned LEED EB O&M certification in the Platinum category, granted by the renowned United States Green Building Council. We 59 |
