 Social project incentives
In 2019, over 30 Sicredi credit unions included a Social Fund, geared towards leveraging collective interest social projects, aimed at education, culture, sport, health, environment, security and social inclusion.
It is related to the seventh principle of cooperativism, Interest in the Community. In 2019, the Social Fund became a systemic program in an effort to encourage the creation of new funds in credit unions and to offer support to those already existing, leveraging investment and the development of local communities.
while also permitting the creation of se- veral ways to gauge results.
In 2017, the composition of the central committee, which defines proposals referred for deliberation by the SicrediPar Board of Directors, was expanded and the name was changed to the National Sustainability Committee. Besides the presidents and executive directors of the centrals, CAS and some of the credit unions, the new configuration also included representatives from the centrals’ Social Programs and Cooperativism Development departments, as well as representatives of the Sicredi Foundation. Through this, we were able to create a plural and democratic environment capable of encouraging diverse discussions and points of view about the subject, leveraging action at a national level and fostering results with significant impacts on sustainable development.
The Sicredi Foundation further increa- sed its capacity to structure our sustaina- bility governance and guarantee its syste- mic alignment, providing support to credit unions, centrals and CAS. By means of a series of non-financial solutions, we began providing incentive for the creation of sus- tainability committees at the credit unions.
