In recent years, Sicredi has also intensified lines of credit for the low carbon agriculture sector, with notable solutions including agriculture costing lines that use hydroponic and direct planting into ground cover, in addition to the projects part of the Agricultural Production Technology Innovation Incentive Program (Inovagro, Portuguese acronym). Incentives have also increased for family farming by means of Pronaf and Pronaf Mais Alimentos. In 2019, the institution established a new record for transferring these resources.
In the same year, Sicredi passed the mark of BRL 11 billion in credit granted to members in several segments of the green economy, equal to more than 15% of our portfolio, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable construction, sustainable transport, sustainable tourism, water, fishing, forests, sustainable agriculture, waste, certain activities in agribusiness and enterprise of a social nature, such as education, health, productive inclusion and local and regional development.
Social and environmental responsibility backed by technology
Since 2017, we have been using a mo- dern georeferencing system to assess areas to be benefited by our agriculture and livestock lines of credit. Using ge- odesic coordinates for the enterprise, we can automatically check if the ru- ral property is located within areas of social and environmental risk, such as indigenous lands, quilombos, Areas of Permanent Preservation - APA, Areas of Relevant Ecological Interest (ARIE, Portuguese abbreviation), or even em- bargoed areas and conservation units. The need to capture and submit the- se coordinates was established by National Monetary Council Resolution 4,427, of 2015, and updated by reso- lution 4,580, of 2017. We rapidly and efficiently aligned ourselves with the resolutions, and carefully began using these data in our credit appraisals as social and environmental risk factors. The system established a new level for reducing these risks and has been con- tributing to our attainment of sustaina- bility goals.
